There's no single price list for a Power Take-Off, because no two applications need the same unit. A PTO built for a light-duty dump truck and one built for a continuous-duty concrete mixer differ in materials, gear rating, and shift mechanism — and that's before accounting for which gearbox it has to bolt onto. Understanding what actually drives PTO cost helps you ask the right questions when you request a quote, and avoid paying for capability you don't need.
Gearbox compatibility
A PTO has to match your transmission's exact bolt pattern, gear mesh, and mounting flange — it isn't one-size-fits-all. Units engineered for common, high-volume gearboxes (Hino, Isuzu, Fuso) are generally more cost-effective than units for less common or older gearbox models, simply because of tooling and production volume.
Shift type
Cable-shift PTOs are mechanically the simplest and typically the most affordable. Air-shift units add a pneumatic control circuit and cost more, but allow remote or cab-mounted engagement. Electric shift sits at the top of the range, giving the cleanest in-cab control with no air lines to route — convenient, but priced accordingly.
Duty rating and output
A PTO rated for continuous heavy load — driving a concrete mixer drum, a hydraulic pump under constant pressure, or a vacuum blower — needs heavier gearing and bearings than a PTO that engages briefly a few times a shift. Higher torque capacity and continuous-duty ratings generally mean more material and more machining, which shows up in the price.
Additional components
The PTO unit itself is only part of the system. Mounting kits, control kits (cable, air, or electric), transfer gears (if rotation direction or speed needs adjusting), and driveline couplings are priced separately and add to the total installed cost — but they're also what makes sure the finished installation actually works reliably.
